Letterpress – also known as book printing – is a traditional printing technique that originated in the 15th century and is still valued today for its unique effect. Unlike digital printing, where ink is merely applied to the surface, in letterpress each design is pressed deep into the paper using a printing plate. This creates a fine embossing that is both visible and tactile – an unmistakable sign of handcrafted quality.

Each printing run is a meticulously executed step: We mix the colors by hand, the historic Heidelberg platen press is precisely set up and calibrated to the chosen paper. Then, each card is printed individually. This process requires experience and patience.

The result is stationery that is far more than just a printed product. Letterpress gives invitations, cards, and business stationery a tactile dimension that cannot be achieved with modern methods.

Especially for weddings or brands looking for something special, letterpress is the ideal choice. It transforms stationery into an experience – not only visually, but also tactilely – and sets it apart from standard printed materials.

Letterpress is a traditional printing technique with a unique charm – it beautifully highlights typefaces and fine details through embossing. However, it also has some design limitations:

• Full-surface backgrounds cannot be implemented because large, evenly filled areas appear uneven or are not embossed evenly during printing.
• Very large areas of color create less depth than delicate details. Particularly thin lines and clear typography achieve their greatest impact in letterpress printing.
• Multicolored designs are more complex because each color is printed individually. Additional colors therefore mean more time and higher costs.
• Photographs and color gradients cannot be printed using traditional letterpress.
• Paper selection: Not every paper is suitable – letterpress requires soft, high-quality cotton papers so that the embossing is ideally visible.
  
  

These special features are less a limitation than part of the unique character of letterpress – they make the printed image so elegant, purist and timeless.

Yes, that's generally possible – however, we recommend using our heavier paper options (600 or 540 g/m²). This allows you to print on both sides without the embossing showing through too much.

Nevertheless, for the best possible result in most cases, we recommend single-sided cards as well as additional insert cards for further information.

In principle, almost any Pantone color is possible in letterpress printing. Our design guide features a carefully curated selection – but we are also happy to accommodate individual requests. The colors are mixed by hand, and each color used in the layout requires its own printing run. This results in additional costs and a slightly longer production time.

Our work thrives on the interplay of design and printing. Therefore, we exclusively print our own collections and designs and do not consider ourselves a traditional printing company. This ensures that all designs are optimally suited for letterpress printing and that every detail of the design and print harmonizes perfectly.

Our custom stationery features a completely new design, which we develop together with you from scratch – entirely according to your wishes, with plenty of room for personal details perfectly tailored to your wedding concept.

The stationery in our collections is based on pre-designed design lines. You can customize these using our design guide, for example, by changing fonts, paper types, or colors. This way, you get a cohesive, high-quality design with a shorter lead time and less effort than with a completely custom design.

For custom-made, individual stationery, we recommend a lead time of approximately 2–3 months before the first items are shipped. For our design collections, a lead time of 4–5 weeks is usually sufficient. Please note that the exact times may vary depending on order volume and revisions.

Yes, the minimum order quantity for invitations is 20. After that, orders can be placed in increments of 5 .

With letterpress printing, it's not possible to produce individual proofs for each order before the entire job is printed. Every print run requires creating printing plates, manually setting up the machine, and mixing the ink by hand – a time-consuming process.

To help you visualize what your stationery will look like, you'll receive a realistic digital mock-up before printing. This way, you can see exactly how all the elements work together and how the finished set will be designed

We do not check your texts for spelling or content and therefore accept no liability for them. To be on the safe side, we recommend having another person carefully proofread the draft file before you give the go-ahead for printing.

We only need your guests' addresses once you've approved your proof. With your order, you'll receive a secure Google Sheet from us that you can fill out at your leisure.
